Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By installing or using Nook ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, don't use the app. If you are using Nook on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

2. What Nook is

Nook receives links you share to it, stores them on your device, fetches publicly available preview information about them, and helps you find and revisit them later. It is a personal tool. It is not a publishing platform, and nothing you save in it is visible to anyone else.

3. Your account

Nook requires a Google account. You are responsible for keeping access to that Google account secure — anyone who can sign into it can reach your synced library.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account, or by writing to support@installnook.app. Deleting your account removes your synced data from our servers, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 13 years old to sign in.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Nook to do things that are illegal where you are, and don't use it to:

• store or distribute unlawful material
• attack, overload, probe or otherwise interfere with Nook's servers or the sites it fetches previews from
• circumvent access controls, paywalls or rate limits on third-party sites
• resell, sublicense or redistribute the app as your own

Automated bulk importing at a volume that degrades the service for other people counts as interference.

5. Your content

What you save stays yours. We claim no ownership of your links, notes, tags or collections. If you enable sync, you grant us the narrow permission required to store your library and transmit it back to your devices — nothing else. We do not use your content to train models, build advertising profiles, or sell to anyone.

You are responsible for having the right to save what you save.

6. Third-party content and services

Nook shows previews of, and links to, pages published by other people. We do not control that content, do not endorse it, and are not responsible for it. Links break, sites change, and previews are sometimes wrong or unavailable — LinkedIn, for one, refuses to provide them at all.

If you choose to sign in, Nook relies on Google Sign-In. That is the only Google service it uses, and your use of it is subject to Google's own terms. Reminders are generated on your device and involve no third party at all.

7. Availability

Nook is free and offered as-is. We don't promise it will be available without interruption, that syncing will always succeed, or that reminders will always arrive on time — background delivery on Android depends on your device, its manufacturer's battery management, and network conditions we do not control.

The app is deliberately built so that its core function — saving and finding your links — keeps working with no network and no server.

8. Backups are your safety net too

We take reasonable care with synced data, but you should keep your own exports of anything you would be upset to lose. Settings → Your data → Export produces a lossless JSON file. This is not us disclaiming responsibility so much as telling you what any careful person does with a library they care about.

9. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nook is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Nook. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the app, which for a free app is zero.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Ending things

You can stop using Nook at any time by uninstalling it, and delete your synced data as described above. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached — in which case you will still be given a reasonable opportunity to export your data, unless doing so is unlawful.

We may also discontinue Nook entirely. If that ever happens, we will give at least 90 days' notice in the app and at this domain, and export will keep working for the whole of that period. We watched what Pocket's shutdown did to people; this clause is here on purpose.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this URL with its date at the top. Material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Nook after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except where consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally, which it may.
